Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Wire EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) Operator to
join our precision engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up,
programming, and operating Wire EDM machines to manufacture high-precision components in
accordance with engineering drawings and tight tolerances. This role reports directly to the
Engineering Supervisor and requires strong technical ability, a quality-focused mindset, and the
capacity to work independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate Wire EDM Mitsubishi machines and sparking,
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, CAD data, and technical specifications.
- Program machines using CAM software or onboard controllers (e.g., esprit).
- Inspect components using precision measuring equipment (e.g., micrometers, gauges) to ensure adherence to tolerances and surface finish requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance on EDM machines to ensure reliability and accuracy.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to improve manufacturing processes and resolve technical challenges.
- Document job setups, in-process checks and inspections.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following all safety and environmental protocols.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in productivity, quality, and cost reduction.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience operating Wire EDM machinery in a precision engineering or toolmaking environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Proficient in the use of precision measurement tools.
- Familiarity with CAM software and CNC programming is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Time management and ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Experience:
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a Wire EDM role within a precision manufacturing or engineering company.
Working Conditions:
- May involve shift work or overtime, depending on production needs
