Toolmaker – Finishing Department

Reporting to: The Engineering Supervisor

Location: This role is based on the company premises in Mitchelstown, Co. Cork.

Duration: Permanent / Full time / 39 hour week

The purpose of this role:

As a Toolmaker in the Finishing and Quality Department at Lisnabrin Engineering, your role will be critical in the manufacture and building of new products and improving existing ones, as well as collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of projects. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the company’s ability to deliver high quality products and services to its customers.

The key accountabilities of the role:

Key accountabilities will include the sparking, grinding, and assembling of new parts and fixtures, liaising with other team members, and providing feedback and support as needed.

Duties:

The Primary duties of the Toolmaker in the Finishing and Quality Department will be to take responsibility for:

  • Sparking, grinding, and assembling of new parts and fixtures
  • Performing routine maintenance checks on the machines and equipment and providing details of any malfunctions or deviations to the Engineering Supervisor
  • Liaising with and providing feedback to the Engineering Supervisor
  • Any other duties in line with the role, as reasonably requested by management.

The Ideal Candidate will have the following:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Toolmaking, Mechanical Engineering or related experience

Desirable Qualifications:

  • 2+ years recent experience in a Toolmaking Environment

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to use manual turning and milling equipment
  • Ability to work to high level of precision
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of engineering and technical CAD drawings
  • The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • The ability to clearly understand design concepts
  • Ability to manage time efficiently, prioritizing tasks and working to deadlines
  • High level of attention to detail

Desirable Skills:

Essential Experience:

  • Sparking, grinding, and putting together assemblies and fixtures
  • Machine and tool setup

Desirable Experience:

  • Electropolishing
  • Machining of bespoke parts, fixtures, tooling and/or consumer products
  • CNC programming in CAD/CAM software
  • CNC Machinery
  • Work / work experience in one of the following sectors:
  • Precision Engineering
  • Medical Devices
  • Other End-use-markets for Precision Engineering

Essential Knowledge:

  • Use of measuring equipment: microscope, height gauges, micrometres, Verniers etc.

Desirable Knowledge:

  • Feeds and Speed calculation
  • Fundamentals of mechanics
  • Experience with prototyping processes
  • Knowledge of material properties and selection for various applications
  • 3D Surface Milling
  • CAD software
