CNC Operative– Full-Time (Shift)

Location: This role is based on the company premises in Mitchelstown, Co. Cork.
Duration: Permanent, Full Time, Shift Work 39-hour week Monday – Friday [Days / Evenings]
Remuneration: Dependent on Experience up to €35000 – per annum

Job Summary:

We are seeking a CNC Operative to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient setup, operation, and optimisation of CNC Machines (Turning and/or Milling) to produce high-quality precision components in a fast-paced industrial environment.

You will work as part of a multi-skilled team, ensuring production processes run smoothly, quality standards are met, and all safety procedures are followed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Machine Setup & Operation
  • Set up and operate CNC Milling or Turning machines (e.g., Citizen, Doosan, Fanuc, Hurco, Mitsubishi etc).
  • Select, load, and adjust programs, cutting tools, speeds, and feeds according to job specifications.
  • Prepare and load raw materials and components.
  • Supervise machine operation and make adjustments to optimise performance.
  • Perform deburring, finishing, and part inspection as required.

Quality & Process Control:

  • Interpret and work from technical drawings, specifications, and job packages.
  • Carry out in-process measurements and ensure all parts meet required tolerances.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy and “right-first-time” output.
  • Record production data and maintain shift documentation.

Maintenance & Continuous Improvement:

  • Conduct daily machine checks and support preventative maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot technical and process issues, escalating where necessary.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 6S, efficiency projects).
  • Maintain a clean, safe, well-organised work area.

General Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate issues promptly.
  • Support training, cross-skilling, and process improvement activities.
  • Perform additional duties as required by the production supervisor.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • 2+ years’ experience as a CNC Operator, Setter or Machinist (Turning or Milling).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of CNC machinery and tooling.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and measurement tools.
  • Experience with controllers such as Citizen, Doosan, Fanuc, Hurco, Mitsubishi etc.
  • (advantage, not essential).
  • Good computer skills and basic understanding of CAD/CAM (advantage).
  • Strong communication, organisation, and teamwork ability.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in medical device, or regulated manufacturing environments is a bonus.
  • Eligible to work in Ireland and competent in written and spoken English.
